Enjoying to the End

On the Menu

I did it I conquered live octopus. It kinda tickles going down, and it honestly tastes like swallowing the ocean, but overall . . . not that bad. :)

Well this is the end or the beginning. Depends on how you look at it.  I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve in Korea. I have been pondering the phrase "endure to the end".  It is frequently used in the bible and Book of Mormon.  But that expression makes me a little sad... cause that word endure, as important as it is, can be misleading like it has to be really hard and/or really painful....... and I believe that God wants us to be happy. My favorite expression is Enjoy the journey :) So I have changed this expression to, Enjoy to the end! Cause life should be enjoyed.

The way we truly enjoy life is by following Christ and keeping His commandments.  By doing this we can have his spirit to be with us and always maintain that peace that comes through keeping them.  The spirit has given me so much guidance throughout my life and 10 fold on my mission.

Tender mercy of the Lord

So I had this weird feeling to put my hair in a side braid not really my thing.  It's actually Sister Udall's thing and she rocks it, and I kinda felt nostalgic and put it in the side braid like she used to wear. Then we got on the subway, where I would usually try to talk to someone, but I felt like I needed to confirm this appt we had, while I was sitting down a man approached me and in english said,"I just want you to know that your efforts are not wasted here.  You do more good that you know.  I am not a member of your church, but I still benefit from your work."  He held up some children's song books.. " You reminded me of a girl that served here and I just wanted you to know that." (we were right next to sister Udall's last area. at this point I had to get off the train, but it was just a miracle to see that all come full circle.  Missionary or not missionary we make a difference, more of a difference than we may see in our time, but the impact is real and deeper than we will ever know.  :)

See you this week!!!

Extra Fun Exchanges

On the menu

LIVE OCTOPUS (actually this is on the menu for today........ I am very nervous and it's probably the only thing I will have ever eat that could still kill me.... whelp see you next week I hope........)

So I got to go on exchanges with my MTC companion (The person I entered the Missionary Training Center with) last week!!!!!!!!!!! what a great opportunity!!! I feel soooooooooo blessed.  My MTC comp is seriously the best.  It was so great to be able to serve with her in our last transfer and talk about what we have learned on our missions; the miracles and the trials and more miracles.  I also got to see Sister Fuataga's converts and meet them they are from Africa and show so much faith. Even though there is sometimes a big language barrier the spirit does the communicating.  Missions are such great blessing! I know that the people we meet on our missions will always have a special place in our hearts for the rest of eternity. :)

Speaking of people I met on my mission I saw my trainer! Crazy to see her after so long.   She is doing awesome :) I am so grateful for her example of post missionary service :)  I love her so much :)

The mission is coming full circle, and it is crazy how much I am learning still.... How can my mission end when I am still learning so mucH!?!?!?
Well learning will continue I guess...... It is just so accelerated on the mission.

So I wanted to talk a little bit about the book of mormon I love this book.  I learn every time I read it. If I were to write all I learned about it on my mission and you were to read it you would probably miss your next three meals. So I will keep it short.  It contains the same message of the Bible it testifies of Christ.  The book shows the progression of man coming to know God like the Bible does. From the Jehovah of the old testament to the Messiah of the new.  You can even see it in the references to the Savior the names by which he is called.  It is truly amazing.  I am so grateful I got to study it on my mission.  My understanding of the atonement has deepened, along with my relationship with Christ.  I hope you all take a chance to either start reading, finish reading, or continue to read it. :) The last couple months I have been focused on reading the new testament and it has been strengthening what I know to be true about the book of mormon :)  Happy Reading :)

2 Nephi 25: 26
26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Love,
Sister Shaver
