Joy in Serving

We met the most "golden person" ever. Then she got scared, but we did what we were suppose to do. she told us we were God's gift to her for her birthday, she said she became busy and can't meet, but we think she just got scared.  We were able to answer all of her questions about life with the scriptures and it was really awesome, it is sad that she is scared or probably her family told her not to meet with strangers which is understandable haha, but it's okay God has a plan for her.

I went on an exchange and did a training with two sisters, I learned probably more than they did haha but it was a really great experience :)

I really was wondering why God had me stay the full 12 transfers, as there was an option for me to go home a little early.  I kept thinking that maybe I would find someone to help, and influence a life dramatically.  This week I realized that maybe I was meant to really learn just to be happy doing the Lord's work even when you can't see the results of what you are doing. There is joy in serving no matter what the outcome is when we do all things for Christ.

5 Dollar miracle

So I have been carrying around an american 5 dollar bill for the last 17 months in my scripture bag. Why, you ask? I have no idea. I don't know! So my companion, some investigators (who were 8 and 10 yrs old), and I were in a taxi and we got out and my comp, who thought she had the 3 won ($3) we would need for the fare, said she had nothing. O.o Then I remembered the $5 in my scripture bag.... sheepishly I pulled it out and was like Sir we do not have any money besides this american 5 dollars. To our amazement he was like, "Sounds good." I also figured he would just take the whole $5, but he was like wait I need to give you 2 won back. So I used an american 5 dollar bill in a Korean taxi.

It may seem simple, but I am so grateful that God truly does work in mysterious ways. He steps in with miracles without number.

Sooooooo its realllllllllyyyyy really hot .... like the hottest summer in 20 years... lucky us. the good news it taking a cold shower helps..... the bad news is all we have available is cold water........ yup we don't have hot water in the apartment..... the struggle is real...(is that even a saying anymore? #missionprobs.... do people even hashtag?)  anyways it is hot, be soooooooooooo grateful for air conditioning if you are so blessed to have it........ fans just don't cut it..... there isn't a time of the day where you aren't covered and dripping in sweat..... gross.... probably TMI, but I am just helping you all be grateful. :) haha

Life could easily be compared to the crazy hike we just went on this morning...
So first off we had no idea where we were going. All we knew is that we want to get to the top of this mountain... So as we are standing there looking at the map and trying to figure out where we are this old guy comes up and is like where are you going? "To the top" we responded. He then said, "Well you need to follow this trail.... actually let's just go together."

I was thinking to myself we would probably lose him on the trail because we are young spry kids right? NOT He might have had 50 years (not kidding) on us but he not only kept our pace but was cleaning up all the trash along the trail!  It was crazy.... He also explained how horribly unprepared we were for this wet rained out trail and the amount of times we fell climbing this thing proved it. Also, the trail was less than well marked...... without a guide we probably wouldn't have found it.  Then we found ourselves literally clinging to an iron rope because it was such a steep climb.
FINALLY we reached the top. The view was awesome!!! my legs were basically shaking, but totally worth it :) and our guide was like, well I got to go find my friend, and then he disappeared.... but then reappeared on another plateau!!! SO FAST.  Definitely out of our hiking league...

This is life, We all know we want to be happy...  So we study how we can be happy,  then we have prophets, loving friends and family to guide us to the road we need to go down.  And it is hard! Sometimes we fall.  We need to grab on to our "iron rod" the word of God will guide us to Christ which is where we can find true happiness :)

Miracles in all Sizes

Music please...THERE CAN BE MIRACLES!!! IF YOU BEEEELLLLIIIEEEVE!!!

So yesterday was a day of miracles!
Baby miracle
I used one of those useless words in my vocabulary book yesterday. These kids were going to go jump rope and so I was able to use the word jump rope in an actual conversation. haha Diligence and patience does pay off.

Teenage miracle
One of our less actives(someone who does not actively come to church) that we have been working with for a really long time who hasn't been to church in over a year came to church!!! I was seriously soooooooooooooo happy. :) and She was happy! She is so awesome. I love her so much :)

Grandpa miracle
So we randomly visited this member's house yesterday just to deliver rice crispies, but she invited us inside.  We had other people we wanted to visit, plus we didn't want to seem like we were inviting ourselves over, but I had a prompting from the spirit that we needed to go into their house. Her husband who has been opposed to the church for 20 years, let us, the missionaries, in for the first time ever yesterday.  We prayed together and he didn't reject it.  And he was really nice!  The Lord is hastening his work and if we are paying attention we will notice. :)

Buying a Hanbok and Blessings

Buying a hanbok

So we went to the shijang #market and bought ourselves some hanboks.
If you know me at all... you KNOW I am physically, emotionally, and mentally incapable of bartering..... I don't even think I could barter to save my own life... I am so terrible.... On the other hand...... KOREANS are VERY good at bartering........ What is a poor foreign missionary to do who can't barter?  Go around and say, "Hi, I am a poor missionary serving in Korea, I only have this much money. What can you give me? I mean hanboks are usually twice this much buuuuut you can have sympathy right?" That would never work right?

BUT it did........
Walked into a store and was like  "Hi, I am a poor missionary serving in Korea, I only have this much money. What can I buy? I mean hanboks are usually twice this much buuuuut you can have sympathy right?"

It was a heart changer. she was like. "You are missionaries?" and we were like "Yes, we live here for 18 months and paid to be here and therefore do not get paid. We talk to people about how the gospel of Jesus Christ can bless their lives. She made some phone calls and we got hanboks. They are even fitting them to us! Because... we are too big for the korean ones.......... but really it was such a miracle!  We talked to her about her religious background she is a Christian and goes to church and before we left she let us pray with her. She was so cute.  Such a great experience. People are so nice and God brings so much goodness to our lives just for serving.  I LOVE being a missionary.
